Corona Schools’ Trust Council Hosts 70th Anniversary Edition of Annual Interschool Quiz Competition.
Celebrating seven decades of excellence in education, Corona Schools recently held the 70th anniversary edition of her annual Interschool Quiz Competition, which concluded in grand style on November 14, 2024.
Hosted at Corona School Victoria Island, the event brought together all four primary schools—Corona School Gbagada, Corona School Ikoyi, Corona School Lekki, and Corona School Victoria Island—for an exciting day of knowledge, creativity, and innovation.
The Academics Category challenged pupils in Mathematics, Science, English Language, and Mixed Baskets, while the Creativity and Innovation Category showcased their talents in Musical Performances and Minecraft. After a thrilling contest, Corona School Victoria Island emerged as the overall champion, with Corona School Ikoyi securing the second position.
Speaking at the event, CEO of Corona Schools, Mrs. Adeyoyin Adesina, praised the pupils’ performance:
“We have observed that the performance of our pupils is consistently excellent across all schools. This equity in teaching and learning ensures that no school lags behind.”
Highlighting the integration of technology, Mrs. Adesina added:
“The quiz, initially pen-and-paper-based, has evolved to incorporate modern applications and software. This shift enhances pupils’ speed, accuracy, analytical skills, and familiarity with technology. We’ve also expanded to include music and dance, encouraging creative interpretation and performance. Education isn’t limited to just Maths and English—it’s about developing well-rounded individuals.”
In celebration of Corona Schools’ 70th anniversary, Mrs. Adesina shared plans for the year-long celebration:
“We’ll begin in January 2025 with the Staff Awards and Recognitions, followed by an Educator’s Round Table Conference in March and an Alumni Gala Night. We have numerous exciting activities lined up to honor this milestone.”
Sponsored by the President of the Corona School Board of Trustees, Dr. Myma Belo-Osagie, the 70th anniversary edition of the Corona Schools’ Interschool Quiz Competition was a display of resilience, determination and grit among the children, most of who are aged 10 years and below.
The 2024/2025 Interschool Quiz Competition marks another milestone and displays the Trust Council’s commitment to providing world-class education to children and developing the total child. Corona Schools was founded in 1955 and continues to operate as a major leader in Nigeria’s education industry.
