World Water Day is celebrated on the 22nd of March every year. It is primarily about focusing attention on the importance of water. The theme for World Water Day 2018 is “Nature for Water-exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the 21st century”.
To commemorate the event in Corona School Gbagada, some primary pupils had a demonstration on how to purify dirty water using distillation method.
Also, the Nursery pupils were engaged in a number of Water based activities. Nursery 1 pupils participated in colour splashing which involved mixing water colour with water and splashing to make a beautiful patterns on plain paper. Nursery 2 pupils performed a plethora of water exercises which included, catching the fish, washing clothes, bathing a baby doll, blowing bubbles and washing balls.
The day’s activities were a whole lot of fun that helped to highlight various uses of water to the children. The children got to see that water is central to all things that pertain to life and our existence as a whole. The children were charged to be more responsible with water and to protect the Earth by practicing good water conservation methods.
