Our History

Corona Teachers College was established and known as Corona Teachers’ Training School (CTTS) in 2007 to provide high quality continuous professional development for teachers in Corona Schools and all over Nigeria. This is in pursuant of the mission of the Council to provide world-class education to children through equipping teachers adequately to do so.

The flagship programmes of the College are the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) (PGCEi) of the University of Nottingham and the graduate teacher development programme known as i-Teach, the first of its kind in Nigeria. Corona i-Teach is a programme aimed at attracting, empowering and equipping young graduates for 21st century classroom practice, irrespective of their initial academic discipline.

With the establishment of and subsequent approval received from the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), the Trust Council through Corona College of Education, now offers initial tertiary education, proving a platform for teacher qualification. The three (3) year teacher foundation programme aims to rejuvenate the decaying public education sector in Nigeria by broadening and deepening the knowledge and skill base of teachers of the critical early years and primary level. The provisional approval is for Early Childhood Care Education and Primary Education and General Education Studies, which has always been our primary focus in Corona, as we believe that foundation is the bedrock of development in any progressive sector of the economy.

The Provost of the Corona College of Education is Dr. Martin Obinyan (PhD), Burasr is Mr Adewale Soremi and Mrs. Joan Omole as Registrar.
