Olufunto Igun was the first Management Accountant of Corona Schools Trust Council and elevated to the position of Financial Controller where she managed the financial cash management/investment strategies and procurement functions. She is presently the Executive Director and CEO of the multi branch not-for-profit school council.
Olufunto possesses a degree in Applied Economics from the University of East London Barking England and is also an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Her professional work experience spans over 25 years which include being a senior accountant in an Auditing & Accounting firm, Assistant General Manager in an investment organization and the group Head of a management consultancy firm.
She is a passionate facilitator and trainer of top management staff at various workshops and seminars. She brings to bear her wealth of experience and depth of knowledge into her trainings.
IFUEKO OMOWUNMI THOMAS
Ifueko Omowunmi Thomas is the Director of The Corona Teachers’ College. She had her first degree, BA Linguistics from university of Benin in 1987, MSc Industrial Relations and Personal Management from University of Lagos in 1992, a Certified Graduate of the Charted Institute of Personnel Management Nigeria in 1994, Post Graduate Diploma in Theology – 1995, Post Graduate Diploma in Education – 1996 and an Med in Early Childhood Education- 2003 both from University of Lagos. She has attended several certified training programmes and workshops on Educational Management, Leadership, Teacher training, Early Years Curriculum Development, and Special Needs at home and abroad. She has travelled extensively and made study visits to see how schools work in the United States, UK and South Africa. She has been in the field of education for over 20 years.
Maureen Ihonor is a veteran educator and is passionate about professional development. She has headed three schools of the Corona Schools Trust Council and is presently the Education Administrator of the Corona Schools Trust Council. She holds a Masters’ degree in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Education, both from the Delta State University. She has attended a wide range of local and international training to further enhance her skills.
PROFESSOR MOPELOLA OMOEGUN
Professor Mopelola Omoegun is the current Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos. She is a Professor of Guidance and Counselling with Education Psychology. She is an experienced teacher, child psychologist and an accomplished author with over forty years of teaching at all the various levels of education in Nigeria. She is a Fellow of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (FCASSON).
She also supervises research students working for Masters and PhD degrees in areas related to her teaching and research interest. Her major interest area has always been focused on children and adolescents/teenagers.
DR. PAUL THOMPSON
Dr. Paul Thompson joined the staff of the School of Education, University of Nottingham, United Kingdom after working as a Head of English for many years in the City of Nottingham comprehensive schools. He was the Director of Masters Programme and the leader of the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCEi) course. The majority of his teaching is done on the online programme. He also supervises research students working for MPhil and PhD degrees in areas related to his research interest. He is a member of the Learning Science Research Institute, United Kingdom.
DR. MARY BAILEY
Dr. Mary Bailey is a member of the Centre for Research in Schools and Communities (CRSC) and the Teachers work and Lives group in the United kingdom. She has tutored for the Open University in the UK in Education and Cognitive Psychology.
Mary is the leader of the MA in Education (Flexible) and Masters in Teaching and learning programmes. She also supervises research students working for MPhil and PhD degrees in areas related to her teaching and research interest. She is currently interested in ways in which teachers and teacher educators work with policy initiatives particularly those that involve partnerships in different forms.
DR. KHALID ADEKOYA
Dr. Khalid Adekoya is a lecturer of education at the University of Lagos. The majority of his teaching is on Introductory Biology, Genetics, Developmental Biology and current methods in biological research. He holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology and Genetics, M. Phil Biology and B.Sc. Hons Biology. He is a member of Faculty of Science Examination Malpractice Panel, Lagos State. He is also a member Nigeria Institute of Biology, Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria and Science Association of Nigeria amongst others.
Folasade Adefisayo was the Executive Director of the Corona Schools’ Trust Council, which has several primary schools and a secondary school. Sade has over 25 years working experience spanning banking operations, trade finance, organisational restructuring, human resource management, training and treasury management. Sade, a certified governance trainer of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) and renowned facilitator, is a selfless motivator who is dedicated to improving people’s lives. She is currently a consultant to the Corona Schools Trust Council and also the Director at the Corona Secondary School.
Adeyoyin Adesina is an experienced Head of School in Corona Schools’ Trust Council. Yoyin is a highly motivated, creative and hardworking person, with over twenty years working experience in the banking and education sectors. For the past eleven years, she has been enjoying a fulfilling career in the educational sector where she has been impacting the lives of students and teachers alike. She has an avid interest in the growth and development of children and has proven ability in running and organizing an enviable learning environment. She is currently, the Head of School, Corona School Lekki. She holds a PGCE (International) from the University of Nottingham. A PGDE from the University of Lagos and a B.A. (Hon) in English form the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Adeshina Okunubi joined Corona Schools as a Biology Teacher in the secondary school. He is a graduate of the University of Lagos, B.Sc. (Hons) Biology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, and M.Sc. degree. He also possesses a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (International) with the University of Nottingham. A versatile teacher, he obtained excellent results consistently with his students and has several certificates on record in this regard.
He served as Head of Science Department, Senior School Coordinator and was also involved in pastoral activities in the school. He was appointed the Vice Principal Pastoral of the school where he transformed the pastoral care of the students. He is presently serving as the Head of Faculty of the Corona Teachers’ College.
Amelia Dafeta an educationist with over 20 years’ experience in class teaching, teacher supervision and school management. Amelia is very passionate about teacher training and development. She is currently the Head of School of Corona School Ikoyi. Amelia holds an MA in Education and a B.Ed both from the University of Lagos.
Tokunbo Matilukuro is an experienced educationist with over 20 years teaching and school management experience. In addition to her dynamic role as Head of one of the Corona Schools’ Trust Council’s schools, Tokunbo’s expertise is deployed to train teachers on instructional effectiveness, supporting children with learning difficulties a subject for which she has a passion and in depth knowledge. She has been exposed to a broad spectrum of technical tools and resources through various international training on the subject. She holds a degree in a Bachelor of Science Education degree in Chemistry, a diploma in Computer Science and a Master of Education degree (Guidance and \Counselling). Tokunbo has served the Trust Council in several roles thereby acquiring a broad experience profile.
Funmilola Olorunnishola is a seasoned school administrator with over fifteen years of hands-on experience in the education sector. She is a product of both University of Ibadan and University of Lagos where she obtained her first and second degrees in education respectively. She obtained an International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (IPGCE) from the University of Nottingham. As the Head of Corona School Victoria Island, Funmilola shares her wealth of experience with other teachers and school administrators as a facilitator at seminars and workshops. She has attended several skills enhancing programs both locally and internationally. She is a member of the Nigerian Association of Teachers.
Femi Akinlade is a science educationist who in the past 20 years has worked with secondary school students motivating and equipping them with tools needed both to achieve and enjoy the learning of Science. His interests include supporting classroom teachers by espousing Vygoskian philosophy both as a practicing Physics teacher and Head of Science Department of Corona Secondary school. His work as a local facilitator for Nottingham University school of Education has leveraged his efforts to assist even more graduates that are turning into the teaching profession. He is conversant with both C.I.E and WAEC requirements for science students, teachers and Coursework assessors. Presently he is a team leader for WAEC Physics 2 examiners and a member of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria. He holds a degree in Postgraduate Graduate Certificate in Education (International) University of Nottingham and a B.SC (Hons) in Physics.
Chinedum Oluwadamilola is the Vice Principal Academics at the Corona Secondary School, one of the Schools under the Corona Schools’ Trust Council. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Microbiology, a PGDE from the University of Lagos and a Masters degree from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.
Chinedum has worked in various capacities within the Corona, building an interesting career profile spanning over 20 years. She has been exposed to a wide range of training, internal and external to further enhance her skills. She was a member of the team monitoring and inspection programme of the Corona Schools and has also been a support in teacher supervision and development.
Esther Abakasanga holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literary Studies, from the University of Calabar, a certificate in German from University Dusseldorf, Germany, Diploma in Early Years Montessori Education, College of Modern Montessori Johannesburg, South Africa, Postgraduate Graduate Certificate in Education (International) and a Masters degree in Education from the University of Nottingham.
Esther is a Train the Trainer’s Certificate from Montessori Centre International, London, UK. She is a seasoned Early Years expert, passionate about teaching young children how to read and unleash their potentials. She believes that every child can achieve excellence with appropriate and multi- sensory instruction. Esther is a member of the school management of Corona Schools and currently serves as Head of School, Corona Day Nursery Ikoyi. She has attended numerous local and international trainings to keep abreast with current trends in Education.
Innocent Oaikhena is a seasoned educator with the experience of teaching of the sciences. He has a wealth of experience in the use of ICT in lesson delivery. Innocent holds a Masters degree in Chemistry Education from the University of Nsukka he is an associate member of the Science Teachers Association Of Nigeria (STAN) and Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) as well as a member of Children in Science and Technology (CIST). He is a Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) – Certified Teacher for coursework in science – Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
Gospel Ikpeme has coordinated teacher education development projects for many organisations and institutions including Learn Africa Plc., British Council, Nigeria, Pearson Education UK, Seaberg South Africa, Pearson Foundation, USA and many other institutions in Nigeria and abroad. His research interest is in the area of materials design for language learning, teacher talk, ICT for teacher professional development as well as teacher education. Recently, he has been working on conceptual frameworks for the development of teachers as well as researching into current trends and methodology for teacher education. He is also interested in classroom methodologies, techniques and resources for English language learning. Gospel holds a Ph.D English Language Education, University of Abuja, Ph.D Educational Psychology & Christian Studies, Capella Christian University, MA TESOL, University of Leeds and a BA (Hons) Theatre Arts, University of Calabar.
Idris Agbaje is a uniquely creative and talented educator with total commitment and dedication to achieving set goals/targets in pupils. He holds a B.Sc (ED) in Biology and over 10 years’ experience in classroom practice and has expert knowledge in the use of ICT and the interactive whiteboard in lesson delivery. He is presently the Principal of Neader International School, Lagos.
Joann Anokwuru is a seasoned and certified educator with over 9 years of experience working with special needs children. She has spent a lot of time working directly with children with special needs in class, conducting assessment and developing individual learning plans for each identified child to help them cope with school work. Joann has a wealth of experience setting up inclusive units for schools to cater for children with special needs. She is certified to test children with learning challenges in order to identify the specific type of challenge they may have and to recommend learning plans that can help them with their school work.
Ijeoma Nnaji is is an experienced teacher with a history of success which has spanned many years. Her interest and natural calling is the development of the young mind. She is passionate about helping children perfect their natural inclination for learning. Ijeoma holds a B.A in History and a diploma in Montessori Education (21/2-6yrs) from the College of Modern Montessori. She has also helped in starting pre-schools by planning the layout as well as developing the curriculum for academic support. In addition to her role as Nursery Head in Corona Schools Trust Council, Ijeoma has attended a wide range of trainings in Child management, child development as well teacher professional development.
